My brother has always been a Republican….his dad was Republican so he is as well. There’s actually no way in hell my dad would be a Republican in the current era. He was just not that stupid. (He died in 1984)
My brother would latch on to virtually every scandal of the week fulminated by Faux News and blare it all over FB. He’s one of those loud, obnoxious buffoons light on facts and reason, heavy on bombast. I finally blocked him on FB because I just couldn’t stand the garbage anymore. After Drumpf’s election, I didn’t talk to him for a couple of years. He reminded me of the Mango Mussolini and I just couldn’t stomach it.
Then my mother mentioned recently he didn’t vote for Hair Furor….matter of fact, every time she talked to him he would bitch not only about him but Republicans in general and it’s only gotten louder over the last year or so. On a side note, I lured my mother away from the dark side several years ago and she’s never looked back.
I’ve gradually started talking to him, mostly about pets because it’s a relatively safe topic. He really has seen the light on the deviance of the modern Republican Party. He’s not sure he can start voting Democratic yet but there’s no way he’ll cast a vote for “one of those damn Republicans”.
Needless to say, if MY brother has seen the light, how many less devoted Republicans are still choosing to stay in the fold?
